First Stop – Monticello

July 17, 2016

The first stop on our road trip was Charlottesville, VA, where Thomas Jefferson built his home, Monticello.

There is no way to summarize in this brief blog post the life and legacy of Jefferson.  His contributions to this country are the foundation of the country itself. The Monticello website offers a nice biography for those interested in learning more about him.

I’ll simply share a few shots from the visit, including the classic nickel shot (the view of Monticello that is on the back of the US 5 cent piece).

  2. My favourite Jefferson quote is:
I like the dreams of the future better than the history of the past.
