The Old Mill
This is an 1842 grist mill in Montague, MA. A full history of it can be found here. Today it houses a used bookstore, a cafe, a record store and a few other shops. The icy Sawmill River and the snow cover gives a very frosty look to what I’m sure it is a very inviting location in the warmer months.

Couldn’t be more picturesque. Especially for those of us who are totally allergic to Snow!

I’m allergic to it as well – and the allergy gets worse with age.

The age also seems to get worse with AGE! Hmmm?

What a beautiful scene, Andy. You captured it beautifully. Winter is a great time for these kind of shoots since the foliage doesn’t block the view.

Now, there is a classic New England mill! At my first glance, I wondered how you’d made it her to Berlin, my town in Connecticut, to get a shot of the Sherwood Tools factory (now classy condos) from the back. It’s the brick, the snow and the icy water behind the bare branches and evergreens–a scene played over and over again across the Northeast. So nicely captured! I hope your fingers didn’t get frost nipped.

No frost-nipped fingers, but a close call with getting splashed with slush by a passing truck.

At least the red bricks give the illusion of warmth inside this charming old building.

The inside is the photo I posted a few weeks ago of the chairs and the books (which I digitally warmed up a bit as well).

Thanks, but I don’t want any photos of snow on my walls right now. There is too much out the windows.

Looks like a great place to shoot. Can you go inside?

When we were there, we were really only able to go into the bookstore (I captured that in my post 52 in 2015: #2 – Pleasure). I got a few others pictures inside, but nothing I was really thrilled with. The other stores were closed. I think I would have been better served visiting in warmer weather.
