A bit of mad scientist world, actually.

I found this while looking through some old scanned photos. This was my college senior project apparatus. I don’t think this was the final setup – if I recall, those thin wires you see coming off the transformers melted.  I had to use jumper cables…

This was taken with one of my old film cameras.  I edited it in Photoshop Elements, Topaz DeNoise and ReStyle, onOne Perfect Effects and LR.

    • It was used to fabricate thin-film superconductors using an evaporation technique. The idea was to heat a small container of powder enough to cause it to evaporate on a substrate suspended above it. It was only moderately successful, but a lot of fun.
