Starting off my 2014 postings….

January 1, 2014

Between family gatherings and a home remodeling projects, I regrettably didn’t get to spend as much time taking pictures as I would have liked during my holiday break.  My photo taking was confined to shooting at those family gatherings.   I will say that taking all those family shots and having to filter and develop them did make me reflect on how much I love Lightroom!

That has also kept me from posting much to this blog over the past couple of weeks, but I’m trying not to lose the momentum I had.  I want to start 2014 strong with more shooting and frequent postings.  I’m signed up for the 52 in 2014 challenge through the Photoshop Elements Village forum and I really want to keep to that challenge.

So I’m posting the best two non-family shots I took over the past couple of weeks. During a little down time during a couple of those family events, I did manage to get a few quick moments experimenting with shots of a Christmas tree.  I’m particularly happy with the first shot, because that was taken with my new Sony DSC-RX 100.  I love the shallow depth of field I was able to get.

Sony DSC-RX 100; processed in Lightroom

Nikon D90, processed in Lightroom

Thanks to those of you who started following me in 2013!  It has been a wonderful experience for me and I really hope to continue it in 2014.

Happy New Year to all!

Both are great shots! It’s so hard to capture that Christmas tree light well – and you nailed it.

  9. Lightroom has had an amazingly positive impact on my workflow! I also want to mention that I love your ornaments! I always feel like unique and different ornaments lend tradition and stories to a tree. 🙂

  12. Thanks everyone – I really appreciate the feedback. I think this post has received the most comments of any so far, and that is really an encouraging way to start the new year. My next post should be the first in my 52 challenge!
