Railway Post Office

July 24, 2013

One of the showpiece railcars at the Danbury Railway Museum is the Pennsylvania Railroad Baggage/Railway Post Office Car.  It has been very well restored and is a real piece of history, showcasing the days when mail in the US was commonly delivered long distance by the railroad (for more info, see the Wikipedia article on the Railway Post Office).

  1. Great composition on this pic, what an interesting piece of history, I’m in love with anything that has rows and rows of pigeon holes and is made of wood.

  2. Very nice composition of the mail car. The history of old trains is fascinating and seeing a restored car is a treat.
